1. Background

Laar Humanitarian and Development Programme (LHDP) is implementing the drought anticipatory action project (Phase I) under the Start Ready/National Reserve framework in Sindh. As part of its operational readiness activities, LHDP plans to prepare advisory materials on livestock care. The materials should be relevant to the operational context of any of these three districts: Sanghar, Shikarpur, or Tharparkar.

The consultant in the Sindhi language will develop these materials in printer-ready format.

2. Objective of the Assignment

The objective of this assignment is to design and prepare explicit, technically sound, practical, functional (actionable) advisory materials in Sindhi on livestock care during water stress periods (droughts). The consultant will use placeholders (XXXX) for the district names. It will allow LHDP to use the materials across the three districts of Tharparkar, Sanghar, and Shikarpur (subject to triggering of Phase II by Start Ready).

3. Scope of Work

• Develop advisory content in Sindhi covering:

• Drought livestock care and heat-stress management

• Fodder storage, feeding practices, and rationing during drought

• Water safety measures for livestock and household

• Ensure advisory notes are practical and suitable for rural audiences and extension workers.

• Produce content in soft-copy format, ready for printing (simple layout, headings, and bullet points).

• Coordinate with the LHDP Project Manager for support. 

4. Key Deliverables

• Advisory notes in Sindhi on drought livestock care (soft copy).

• Advisory notes in Sindhi on fodder storage and feeding practices (soft copy).

• Advisory notes in Sindhi on water safety (soft copy).

• The final editable soft copies of the materials are ready for printing and field dissemination.

5. Duration of Assignment

The assignment is expected to be completed by the consultant within 10 working days of contract signing.

6. Location

The assignment will cover technical materials from the general context of Sanghar, Shikarpur, and Tharparkar districts. There is no need for field visits. In case the consultant feels the need for a field visit, LHDP will arrange the logistics and will coordinate the visit.

8. Required Qualifications and Experience

• Relevent Degree related to livestock management

• At least 3 years of experience in livestock advisory content development or extension services.

• Strong ability to draft accurate technical content in Sindhi for rural audiences.

• Familiarity with drought-related livestock and water messaging is highly desirable.

• Experience with humanitarian or anticipatory action programmes is an advantage.
