1. The Role:

The Field Data Collection Officer is responsible for collecting, recording, and verifying field-level data related to project activities. The role supports the PU-Manager/Field Assistants and Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) system by ensuring accurate farmer registration, survey implementation, and timely submission of data to support project monitoring, compliance with Better Cotton requirements, and evidence-based decision-making.

2. Roles & Responsibilities

  1. Conduct field-level data collection for project activities, including baseline, seasonal surveys, and other monitoring assessments.
  2. Support farmer registration and ensure accurate entry of farmer profiles into the digital data management system.
  3. Assist in collecting data related to adoption of Better Cotton practices such as soil health, water stewardship, crop protection, biodiversity, and decent work principles.
  4. Maintain accurate records of training attendance, farmer participation, and field demonstrations.
  5. Use digital data collection tools (e.g., Kobo, ODK, CommCare) to collect and upload field data in a timely manner.
  6. Verify basic field data through spot-checks and cross-check information with farmers and field facilitators.
  7. Ensure proper documentation of surveys and supporting records.
  8. Coordinate with Field Facilitators/Field Assistants and the M&E team to ensure accurate and complete data collection.
  9. Report data inconsistencies or missing information to the M&E Field Officer or PU Manager for corrective action.
  10. Maintain confidentiality and secure handling of farmer and project information.
  11. Assist in compiling field-level data for monthly and seasonal reporting.
  12. Support monitoring visits, stakeholder visits, and internal or external verification processes.
  13. Assist the project team during events, field demonstrations, and farmer meetings by documenting participation and activities.
  14. Participate in training sessions and capacity-building activities to improve data collection and monitoring skills.

3. Qualifications & Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Rural Development, Environmental Sciences, Statistics, or related discipline.
  2. 1–2 years of experience in field data collection, surveys, or project support roles in agriculture or rural development projects.
  3. Familiarity with digital data collection tools (Kobo, ODK, CommCare, or similar platforms) is preferred.
  4. Basic knowledge of MS Excel and data entry.
  5. Good communication skills in Urdu and local languages.
  6. Willingness to travel frequently within project villages.
  7. Ability to work with farmers and field teams in rural environments.

Contract: 01 year, with three months probation period. The placement will be made through third-party contracting firm.

Location: Haroonabad/Fortabbas, District Bahawalnagar. Local candidates will be given preference.
