1. Role Purpose

The M&E Field Officer is responsible for supporting the monitoring, evaluation, data verification, and performance tracking of project activities at the field level. The role ensures accurate data collection, quality assurance, compliance with Better Cotton requirements, and timely reporting to support evidence-based decision-making and effective project implementation.

2. Roles & Responsibilities

  1. Lead field-level implementation of monitoring and evaluation activities, including baseline, midline, and endline assessments.
  2. Oversee farmer registration processes and ensure accuracy of digital farmer profiling systems.
  3. Monitor and verify compliance with Better Cotton principles, including soil health, water stewardship, crop protection, biodiversity, and decent work standards.
  4. Conduct regular data quality assessments, spot-checks, and validation visits to ensure reliability and completeness of data
  5. Ensure proper maintenance of monitoring records, attendance sheets, survey tools, and supporting documentation.
  6. Supervise and guide Field Facilitators in accurate and timely data collection procedures.
  7. Manage digital data collection platforms (e.g., Kobo, ODK, CommCare) and ensure timely synchronization and reporting.
  8. Identify data gaps or inconsistencies and coordinate corrective actions with PU Manager and field teams.
  9. Maintain strict confidentiality and secure handling of beneficiary and project information.
  10. Track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in line with Better Cotton compliance and donor requirements.
  11. Contribute to preparation of monthly, quarterly, and seasonal monitoring reports
  12.  Provide analytical feedback to the PU Manager and Project Coordinator on trends, adoption rates, and performance gaps.
  13.  Compile and analyze data related to adoption of recommended practices (e.g., composting units, soil testing, water conservation, IPM practices).
  14.  Support internal and external audits by preparing monitoring documentation and facilitating verification visits.
  15. Participate in planning meetings, review sessions, and capacity-building activities to strengthen M&E systems.
  16.  Assist in documentation during special events, stakeholder visits, and project evaluations.

3. Qualifications & Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Statistics, Environmental Sciences, Rural Development, or a related discipline.
  2. 2–4 years of experience in Monitoring & Evaluation, preferably in agriculture or rural development projects.
  3. Experience in managing digital data collection tools (Kobo, ODK, CommCare, or similar platforms).
  4. Strong understanding of data quality assurance and reporting standards.
  5. Proficiency in MS Excel and basic data analysis.
  6. Strong communication and coordination skills (Urdu and local language proficiency required).
  7. Willingness to travel extensively within project areas.
  8. Ability to work independently and manage field-based responsibilities effectively.

Contract: 01 year, with three months probation period. The placement will be made through third-party contracting firm.
