Qualification:

  • Diploma or certification in Midwifery from a recognized institute.
  • Valid registration with Nursing/Midwifery Council (PNC Card).


Relevant Experience:

 

  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in maternal and newborn care.
  • Experience in safe delivery settings (hospital, birthing center, or community program).
  • Prior work with NGOs/humanitarian settings is an advantage.

Job Description:

  • Provide antenatal care services, including screening, counseling, and health education for pregnant women.
  • Conduct safe and clean normal deliveries following standard clinical protocols.
  • Monitor labor progression, manage complications within scope, and ensure timely referrals of high-risk cases.
  • Provide postnatal care to mothers and newborns, including vital sign monitoring, breastfeeding support, and identifying danger signs.
  • Administer essential maternal and newborn medications and vaccines.
  • Ensure strict adherence to infection prevention and control (IPC) practices.
  • Counsel mothers and families on birth preparedness, newborn care, breastfeeding, nutrition, and hygiene.
  • Support early initiation and exclusive breastfeeding and provide IYCF counseling when needed.
  • Identify and refer mothers and newborns requiring advanced medical care.
  • Provide family planning counseling and services where applicable.
  • Maintain accurate ANC, delivery, PNC, and newborn care registers and documentation.
  • Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports as required.
  • Document referrals, complications, outcomes, and follow-ups properly.
  • Coordinate with doctors, nurses, community health workers, and other health staff to ensure smooth service delivery.
  • Participate in community awareness activities on maternal and newborn health.
  • Ensure privacy, dignity, and respectful maternity care for all clients.
  • Participate in trainings, refresher courses, and supervisory meetings to maintain clinical competencies.
  • Perform any other task assigned by the supervisor to support maternity services.
