Job Summary

Background:
Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan (AKHS,P) runs one of the largest not-for-profit private healthcare systems in the country, with a focus on the regions of Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and Sindh. Its core focus includes initiatives for hard-to-reach populations through services such as outreach clinics, training of community midwives to provide low-cost health services in remote areas, screening for non-communicable diseases, and digital health solutions.

Position Summary:
Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan (AKHS,P) is seeking a competent and dedicated Lady Health Visitor (LHV) for Gilgit under community and reproductive health initiatives. The LHV will be responsible for providing essential Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) services and information to women, adolescents, and marginalized groups within the target communities. The role focuses on promoting awareness, facilitating access to family planning, maternal and child health services, and ensuring strong linkages with healthcare facilities and referral systems.


Role and Responsibilities

Service Delivery

  • Provide SRH services, including counseling on family planning, antenatal and postnatal care, and safe motherhood practices.

  • Conduct health education sessions on SRH, menstrual hygiene, and adolescent health.

  • Support community-based distribution of contraceptives and other essential SRH commodities.

  • Identify and refer cases requiring advanced care (e.g., obstetric emergencies) to relevant health facilities.

Community Outreach & Engagement

  • Mobilize women, adolescent girls, and community influencers to participate in SRH-related activities.

  • Build trust and strong relationships with community members, including minority and vulnerable populations.

  • Engage with men and community leaders to address cultural barriers and misconceptions regarding SRH.

Data Collection & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of services provided, clients reached, and referrals made.

  • Support Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) teams in data verification and reporting.

Capacity Building & Coordination

  • Participate in training sessions organized by the project to enhance SRH knowledge and service delivery skills.

  • Coordinate with local healthcare providers, Lady Health Workers (LHWs), and government health departments to ensure effective referral pathways.

  • Assist in organizing health camps, awareness campaigns, and community dialogues.


Required Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualified Lady Health Visitor (LHV) with valid registration from the Pakistan Nursing Council (PNC).

  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in SRH, maternal and child health, or community health projects (experience with NGO/INGO preferred).

  • Strong counseling, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience in community mobilization and outreach in culturally sensitive environments.

  • Basic knowledge of data collection and reporting tools.

  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office, Excel, and data entry applications).

  • Cultural sensitivity and understanding of local community contexts.
