OUR TEAM

The Media & Communications Team ensures that Human Appeal Pakistan and its impact are effectively communicated to Human Appeal UK’s internal and external stakeholders through a variety of materials and channels. The team currently comprises a Media & Communications Manager supported by an officer and an assistant.

JOB PURPOSE

 We are looking to expand our team by hiring a Media & Communications Intern to assist with content production (videography and photography of distributions), content uploading, transcription, and captioning.

 The Media & Communications Intern, under the supervision of the Media & Communications Manager, will contribute to delivering effective and timely content from Human Appeal Pakistan’s activities to the Resource Space through videos, photos, captions and transcriptions of interviews. This role will involve travelling to some of the organisation’s project areas to capture photos and B-roll showing the projects’ impact.

 

POSITION SUMMARY

Photography/videography: To capture photos and B-roll of distributions in various project sites and to capture video stories of beneficiaries of various projects to show impact, based on the direction of the line manager.

Content captioning and uploading: To upload the photos and B-rolls in an organised manner on Human Appeal’s internal content library with detailed captions and necessary information. (Training will be provided on using the content library.)

Content management: To keep an active list of activities happening in the field related to each project and provide content as and when required.

Interview transcriptions: To translate interviews from local languages (Urdu, Sindhi and Punjabi) to English and transcribe them in a time-coded manner.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • A Bachelor’s degree (or final year of study) in Media Studies, Journalism, Mass Communication, Development Studies, or a related field.
    Applicants with a degree in a field other than media and communications may also be considered if they have relevant experience and a strong portfolio in this area.
  • Experience using a DSLR or a mirrorless camera and accompanying equipment to shoot photos and video footage.
  • Working knowledge of Urdu (knowledge of Punjabi and Sindhi would be an advantage)
  • Excellent knowledge of English; technically competent in writing content, captions.
  • Ability to work in a very organised manner with skills in planning, interpersonal communication, presentation and coordination.
  • Ability and willingness to frequently travel to remote areas of Pakistan.
  • Willingness and ability to adapt priorities to respond to changing demands.
