Overview:

Jhpiego is an international non-profit health organization affiliated with The Johns Hopkins University, USA. For more than 50 years and in over 150 countries, Jhpiego has worked to prevent the needless deaths of women and their families. Jhpiego is dedicated to improving the health of women and families in developing countries.

Jhpiego seeks a communication consultant to showcase learnings and results in a powerful and engaging manner. We are committed to showcasing our learnings through various formats, including detailed project reports and compelling audio-visual presentations.

Specific Objectives:

To Produce Success Stories (photography, videography) about G-ANC

Pre-Production:

  1. Identify key stories and messages to be captured with project team.
  2. Identify high-quality photos already taken to include in the project journey or photo album
  3. Develop a detailed plan and script in collaboration with the STPM.
  4. Schedule field visits.

Production: 

  1. Conduct field visits to capture high-quality video footage and photo voices.
  2. Shoot interviews (KIi) and FGDs as planned.
  3. Shoot short testimonials videos
  4. With project team, ensure all necessary permissions and consent forms are obtained.

Post-Production:

  1. Edit video footage to create a compelling narrative in documentary and story style.
  2. Enhance all photo files with appropriate captions and background information.
  3. Draft PowerPoint with success stories woven throughout.
  4. Review drafts with the STPM and comms team, and make necessary revisions.
  5. Finalize and deliver the completed video and photo album materials.

Description of Objectives: 

Jhpiego's consent forms are required for all content, respecting individuals' rights to stop participating at any time.

  1. A comprehensive video documenting the G-ANC journey, including testimonials from GANC facilitator/ providers and pregnant women, and showcasing the positive impact on health outcomes and relationships. Include sub-titles/captioning in English for any audio recorded in local language.
  2. Jhpiego will provide key messages, approve storyboard, provide feedback on drafts, and approve the final draft. Add opening, closing and in video text slides with impact information. Add icons and animated numbers or words during the video to make it interesting. Add modern transitions between video frames to make it a more interactive video. Add jhpiego branding patterns in animated formats during transitions and also follow all of jhpiego branding guidelines.
  3. A collection of 20 - 30 high-quality photographs from the field with descriptive captions that highlight key moments and success stories.
  4. Jhpiego will provide a request list of shots, and coordinate with facilities to identify possible women and providers to interview. Photos for at least 5 stories (e.g., 3 of women, 2 of providers) ideally featuring both. Also, desirable to feature family members if relevant to the story. Edit and format raw photos by fixing lighting, color and angles post photo shoot. Also add in jhpiego patterns over some photos to make them visually appealing.
  5. A comprehensive PowerPoint presentation summanzmg the G-ANC journey, key findings, impact stories, and visual documentation, designed to effectively communicate the project's objectives, implementation process, and outcomes to stakeholders. An editable version will be required which can later be printed as Photo Album. Jhpiego will share the branded ppt template and that needs to be followed
  6. A shared folder containing all pictures, quotes, text, and consent forms, organized for easy access and future reference by the project team.

Deliverables:

  1. Consolidated Video/Documentary Style: about 5 min
  2. A short clip of 1.5 min
  3. Photographs with Captions
  4. PowerPoint Presentation - Photo Album
  5. Shared Folder

Selection Criteria:

  • Masters in mass communications or Media studies Similar social sciences background.
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in producing multimedia content, specifically videos and photo albums, for health or development projects.
  • Prior experience in capturing and documenting success stories, including conducting interviews and creating engaging visual narratives.
  • Proficiency in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro) and photo editing software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom).
  • Ability to create modern transitions, animated graphics, and effective captions in both English and local languages.
  • Proven track record of working sensitively and respectfully with diverse communities, including women and marginalized groups.
  • Experience in obtaining and managing consent forms and adhering to ethical guidelines in documenting and sharing personal stories.
  • Excellent communication skills for conducting interviews, engaging with participants, and working with project teams.
  • Ability to build trust and rapport with healthcare providers, clients, and community members.
  • Availability to travel to Sindh and work on-site as required for field visits and interviews.
  • Flexibility to accommodate changes in scheduling and project requirements.

Level of Efforts (LOE):

The consultant is estimated to work up to 04 weeks, and complete the assignment with all approved deliverables by 30 November 2024.

Payment and Working Schedule:

Payments will be structured based on deliverables and will be disbursed upon the successful completion of all assigned deliverables.

Reporting Line:

This position will report to Senior Technical and Program Manager.
