The U.S. Mission in Pakistan is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the Power Distribution Systems Supervisor in the Facilities Management Office.

Basic Function of the Position –The Power Distribution Supervisor serves under the general guidance of the New Embassy Compound (NEC) Supervisory Electrical Engineer and oversees the daily management of the NEC electrical power distribution system operations and maintenance program. The job holder directly supervises 13 NEC Electrical Technicians and 1 Trades helper and other indirectly staff individually and in teams and oversees work of contractors. Applies sound supervisory and management principles and techniques in operating and maintaining the electrical power distribution system. Supports project management and oversees extensive safety program and manages significant and complicated infrastructure and equipment. Manages systems in accordance with Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO) standards and the International Building Code (IBC).

Qualification Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: Minimum three (3) years of professional experience in the operations and maintenance of electrical power distribution systems is required. In addition, two (2) years of experience supervising technicians is also required.

EDUCATION: Completion of secondary school (10 years of education) certificate is required or completion of vocational training program from an accredited institute recognized as producing journeyman level technicians with specialization in the electrical field is required. Completed courses of study covering the principles of AC and DC circuitry, control wiring, circuit ampacity and safe wiring practices for office and residential buildings, use of diagnostic equipment and electrical meters, commercial wiring standards, and principles of power generation and distribution are required.

Job Knowledge: The incumbent should have an expert level knowledge of management of electrical power distribution systems. Should be expert in operating, maintaining, and repairing of critical system equipment including, but not limited to switchgear, transformers, automatic voltage regulators, panelboards, the fire alarm system, uninterruptible power supplies, lightning protection, interior and exterior lighting, and electrical receptacles. The job holder should have expert level knowledge of electrical safety practices and procedures. Must possess the knowledge of International Building Code (IBC) standards, knowledge of approaches and principles of supervising and leading technicians. The incumbent should have knowledge of reading construction and technical documents and utilizing databases and computer applications. 

Language: LANGUAGE: Level III (good working knowledge) Reading/Writing/Speaking in English and level IV (fluent) Reading/Writing/Speaking in Urdu is required. English language skills may be tested.

Skills And Abilities: The incumbent should have skills to lead and supervise individuals and teams including managing the employee’s performance review process and training, mentoring, and evaluation. Should be able to implement electrical power distribution system program including determining techniques and tactics and assigning and monitoring short-term and long-term tasks. The job holder should have skills to manage workflow of scheduled and unscheduled activities through a computerized maintenance management system and able to diagnose and analyze electrical problems. Should have ability to response to emergencies and lead responses. Should have ability to train others on use of equipment and safety guidelines. Also required to carry out quality control, safety inspections, manages projects and service initiatives. Should be able to communicate with customers, outside vendors and host government officials. The job holder also requires to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Must wear personal protective equipment such as eyewear, safety shoes and electricals safety gear. The incumbent must have valid Pakistani Motorcar/Jeep category driving license. Applicants must show proof that they have a minimum of five years of licensed driving experience. Skills and abilities may be tested.
