U.S. Mission Pakistan is seeking applications from qualified individuals for the “Information Assistant (Computer Management Assistant)” position in the U.S. Consulate, Lahore.

Basic Function of the Position – The incumbent is responsible for installation, management, and operation of authorized computer systems and other automated programs, and responsible for the Help Desk and user support serviced by the Consulate Lahore’s Information Systems Center (ISC). This includes OpenNet, Dedicated Internet Network (DIN), Wi-Fi Network, and all other Automated Data Processing (ADP) equipment providing support, under the Interagency Cooperative Administrative Support Services (ICASS) program. Additionally, incumbent is responsible for providing advice and any other support necessary to assist the users in operating and improving the personal computer systems used by their office and provide technical support to all other posts in Pakistan when required. Occasional assistance is given to other agencies, as necessary.

The incumbent is responsible for planning and taking appropriate action to ensure efficient management of the computer systems and Automated Data Processing (ADP) programs used to support the Mission. The incumbent is also responsible for providing maintenance and support of computer systems, valued at almost $1M dollars and serving 150 users and workstations. The incumbent also provides suggestions and advice on ways to improve efficiency, being alert to new, state-of-the-art software and equipment that can enhance operational efficiency. Provides direct assistance to the Computer Management Specialist and the American Supervisor as a member of the Information Systems Center (ISC) management team.

Qualification Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: Minimum five (5) years of experience in the computer/networking field, customer support, media work, education or business related to information technology is required.

EDUCATION: Completion of University Degree (16 years of education) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Management Systems, Computer Engineering, or related IT field is required. In addition, completion of certificate in at least one of the following: CompTIA A+, Network+, Server+, Security+, Microsoft MCP, MCSA, MCSE, MCDBA, CCNA, CCNP is also required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

The incumbent must be able to work independently and be resourceful in finding solutions. The incumbent must have expert technical skills in computer hardware, software, and networking. Must be able to set and manage objectives. The incumbent must have good interpersonal skills to discuss systems outages, systems limitations, and cybersecurity rules and regulations with customers and key officials. Must possess the ability to discuss complex concepts with managers, clients, vendors, and other personnel and to relate requirements to computer system capabilities; ability to effectively deal with competing user requirements and to negotiate acceptable solutions; ability to conceptualize objectives of assignments and translate objectives into concrete plans; ability to present issues persuasively before top management related to system requirements to obtain needed support. The job holder is required to have ability to advise prospective clients diplomatically of system limitations or other priorities and to work out alternatives. Skills and abilities may be tested.
